This is the first and last picture I will ever have of my baby. It’s a little blurry because it is a picture of the actual picture. But it’s good enough. We loved you little Baby C, more than you know. And mommy and daddy will never forget you. It kills us that we will never know if you had my eyes or his. Boy or girl? What would we have chosen as your name? I miss you. We are going to have this ultrasound framed with the following poem.

“The world may never notice

if a rosebud doesn’t bloom

or even pause to wonder if the petals fall too soon

but every life that ever forms

or ever comes to be

touches the world

in some small way for all eternity

the little one we longed for

was swiftly here and gone

but the love that was then planted

is a light that still shines on

and though our arms are empty

our hearts know what to do

every beating of our heart

says we will remember you.”
